Happy St. Patrick's Day. ☘️No shamrock in my garden but these tulips burst open in the sunshine this afternoon. They are about as happy as I am to see it! 🌞🌷🌼🌿

‘In nature, when we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.’
~ John Muir
As a practitioner of Hawaiian Lomi Lomi living in Ireland, I feel very fortunate to attend online Hawaiian Philosophy classes with a native Hawaiian teacher and some fellow Lomi practitioners. In our most recent class, our teacher Ku’ulei discussed the meaning of the words Aloha ʻĀina. It literally means ‘Love of the land.’ It is the term used for Hawaiian Patriotism which is rooted in a deep appreciation of the Oneness and the deep interconnectedness of all living things.
She later sang her song Aloha ʻĀina for us from her new album ‘Prayer Album.’ Have a listen to Ku’ulei here.

Aloha ʻĀina is particularly relevant at the present time, given the current political unrest and distress caused by abuse of power and abuse of the lands of Hawaii. The goals of the Aloha ʻĀina movement today ‘include the harmonization of human health with the health of the land, through the culturally pono (righteous) protection and care of the natural resources that sustain it.’
My parents passed on a deep reference, respect and appreciation of the land. That has flowed down through our ancestors. I love the Earth.I love finding ways to reduce my footprint. Spending time outdoors and walking in nature is one of my favourite things to do. Most days when I go walking, I am looking for something, time for myself, peace of mind, fresh air, grounding and re-connection. The land willingly provides all that.
For today, I just say thank you. To the land, the Earth, our ʻĀina. In this ritual of gratitude, I begin with love and appreciation for my physical body. It is my very own patch of Earth and I am responsible for its care. It carries me about so patiently this lifetime.
I extend these feelings of love and gratitude to the land of my ancestors and to far and distant lands all over the Earth. Will you join me?
With much Aloha,
Caroline 🌈🌺🌿

'The essence of healing is saying yes to what the moment holds.
Its letting go into the unknown while realising its all holy.
Life and death, pain and ease, triumph and tragedy.
The essence of healing is staying awake to this breath and the next,
Each breath establishing a connection to that which cannot be seen.
A mystery flowing in and flowing out.
Small self and vast Self meeting in the heart.’ ~ Danna Faulds

Frequently Asked Questions
What can I do to ease pain in my back, neck and shoulders?
These days most of us spend long periods sitting at our desks and in the car. This can lead to poor posture, resulting in pain and tension and causes your back muscles to become weak. Holistic Massage and Lomi Lomi Massage can help alleviate pain and improve your posture. If you are suffering with back, leg and neck pain, muscle tension and spasm then book your massage.
What are the best ways to do a detox?
The concept behind detox is to prepare for the safe removal of toxins from your body. The soft or deep flowing moves used in massage treatment boosts this process. This encourages toxins to move out of the body quicker. It also allows blood, our very life, to flow freely through our arteries and veins. It also releases energetic blocks and imbalances.
What can I do to create some 'me' time?
Having a regular massage is a wonderful way to create a space for ourselves. We all lead busy and fast-paced lives these days. Sometimes we neglect our own self-care and leave it at the bottom of the pile. A massage session at Ebb and Flow is like a private retreat restoring you to a place of peace and calm.
What is Lomi Lomi Massage?
Lomi Lomi Nui or ‘temple style’ Lomi Lomi Massage is a healing and ancient Hawaiian style of bodywork. This type of massage releases tension in the body. It is a complete healing system where touch, rhythm and ancient wisdom come together. This allows healing to occur. The ancient Hawaiians believed that we store memories in every cell of the human body not just the mind. The practitioner uses long flowing strokes like the ebb and flow of the ocean. With their hands, elbows and forearms they help the body let go of old patterns and behaviours. This can cause as many stresses and strains as muscle tension.
What is Holistic Massage?
Holistic means whole. Holistic massage affects the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels of the body. It not only eases tension and stress in the body but has a subtle yet profound influence on all the systems in the body. It supports the body’s ability and desire to heal itself.
I have never had a massage before. What massage do you recommend for a beginner?
At Ebb and Flow we change treatments as required to suit your needs and comfort level as much as possible. We work with your body to bring you the most relief. If you are suffering with back pain, I recommend my back, neck and shoulder massage. If the pain is less localised, I recommend a full body massage. We also offer facial treatments that include a relaxing scalp Massage. If you are still unsure of what treatment is best for you please call me today.
